Shabnam's practice is rooted in feminist, trauma informed, and anti-oppressive social work. She  is trained in in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), feminist narrative therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and solutions focused brief therapy. She also draws from mindfulness and self-compassion, trauma specific therapy, body-based interventions, and internal family systems (IFS). 


Shabnam brings her knowledge and training to working with sexualized violence trauma, intimate partner violence, intergenerational trauma, and  health-care trauma. She works with individuals living with chronic health conditions and their caregivers, second generation immigrants, those struggling with chronic workplace stress, individuals experiencing grief, individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
